Edward J. Nusbaum

Edward J. Nusbaum of Bloomington, passed away on October 22, 2017 at OSF St Joseph Hospital.

Ed was born on December 31, 1934 in Hugo, Colorado.  After graduation from High School, he joined the Army and served with the First Armored Division.  After his military service, Ed returned to Colorado where he obtained his accounting certificate and started his career with State Farm Insurance in 1956.

While in Denver, he was introduced to Donna and the two were married on April 14, 1956.  The marriage was a special union that included 5 moves, 3 children, and a lot of happiness and great memories.

The State Farm career that began in 1956 ended with retirement after 40 years of outstanding service during a time that saw an industry move from hand written journal entries to high speed computing. Nicknamed “Mr. Enthusiasm”, Ed was a lifelong learner of his craft, obtaining several insurance degrees, designations and a Master’s Degree from the University of Northern Colorado.  In addition to being a student, Ed was known as a mentor, leader and teacher helping an unknown number of people find and achieve their career goals.

Ed is survived by his wife Donna, and three children: E. J. (Joan) Nusbaum, Bret (Keri) Nusbaum and Trisha (Marty) Nusbaum, six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.  The survivors are the beneficiaries of a great legacy; they had the privilege of being with a great man who was a living example of love for family, integrity, hard work, and a life lived well.

The family is planning a private celebration of his life at one of his favorite places in Colorado.  Condolences can be sent to www.beckmemorial.com.  Anyone wishing to make memorial gift can send it to an organization that supports research pursuing a cure for Parkinson’s disease.
